So Magic the Gathering is a game, the collectible card game, but I think most of you reading this know that already. I played way back when the Revised Edition was the main set. I was probably a senior in high school at the time. When they started changing rules and taking certain cards out of print I stopped playing and eventually I needed a large chunk of cash for a new car and I cashed in my collection and never looked back.
23 years later my son and I were looking for a hobby to share. Something that we could do and enjoy together. That is when I found the game again. We bought a Duel Deck and had a ton of fun with that for two weeks and then found a local game shop and are enjoying not only playing but building up a collection of cards.
As a way to commemorate my return to the game and his beginning in the game I found a 30 day MTG blogging challenge and I want to share that with you all here.
With that being said:
Day Fifteen-Favorite Flavor Text
I really am starting to see a theme develop here. One day’s posts directly affects the next days post and that, at least for me, is the fun in doing these 30 day challenges. I also think that my responses will vary greatly based on what I am doing in the game. With that in mind I think the deal is going to be doing one of these every year I am an active player.
Back to the matter at hand,
Yesterday I wrote about my son taking down a player largely with Goblin Grenades. So that of course leads me to like that card and one it’s flavor texts:
“Don’t underestimate the aerodynamic qualities of the common goblin.”
Not only is that funny it absolutely underscores how that player was taken down while looking for an ego bump.
We went to our LGS’s open house and got 2017 intro packs hat had a red card Fling in them. It reminds me of this text and fling is a really fun red card. For me just seeing the layers of our time playing and being involved with the MTG community is a ton of fun. definitely worth the money I have invested into this hobby.
Let me give a big shout-out to MTG The Walkers Lounge on Facebook, A great place for all things MTG.
